LASER HAIR REMOVAL

Embarrassing unwanted hairs on the face and body create an undesirable impression. Having to shave or use depilatory cream on an ongoing basis becomes tedious and frustrating.  Options like plucking, waxing and electrolysis are painful and take forever. Most of these are short-term solutions. If you are done with these old, dated ways of removing hair, it is time to dip your toes into the laser hair removal pool.

Laser hair removal is a gentle yet powerful method of removing unwanted hair.

How powerful is it? The GentleMax Pro® laser is so effective that it is able to incapacitate hundreds of hair follicles simultaneously. Not only is it more effective than the older methods, the results also last longer.

Many lasers are not considered safe for use on patients with darker skin tones. The GentleMax Pro, however, is completely safe for these patients. Those with darker skin tones will benefit from the GentleMax Pro’s Nd:YAG laser. For those patients with lighter skin tone, the Alexandrite laser is favoured.

In the six weeks leading up to your laser hair removal treatment, do not wax, pluck, or get electrolysis in the area that will be targeted. During the 14 days leading up to the procedure, do not let the target area get exposed to sun.

Before you get laser hair removal, shave the target area to remove the surface portion of the hair. Cleanse the skin to fully take off topical anaesthetics, creams, tanning products, and makeup products; especially any oil or oil based product.

To protect the skin from the laser’s heating energy and ensure that the patient is comfortable, the Dynamic Cooling Device™ (DCD™) is used to lower the temperature of the area with cryogen gas, a freezing chemical substance. This occurs directly before the laser burst is utilised.

The areas being targeted by the GentleMax Pro are then treated using laser pulses. These pulses of energy specifically target the hair follicles, leaving the other cells in the area healthy and safe.

The application of laser energy creates a heating, tingling sensation, and a somewhat rubber-band-snap feeling. The number of treatments required will vary depending on the patient’s goals.

ELECTROLYSIS

Laser hair removal only works if the hair is black or brown i.e. has pigment/melanin in it. For blonde, grey, white or reddish gold hair, electrolysis is the only option. Electrolysis uses a fine probe inserted directly into the hair follicle, and generating a burst of heat via radio frequency, results in the destruction of the hair within the follicle.  It is more painful compared to laser hair removal, as well as a far more tedious, laborious procedure, as each individual hair follicle requires treatment.  Depending on the area of the body requiring treatment will depend on the amount of hair growth in that particular area.

As illustrated above, one can see that it would be feasible to treat only very coarse, obvious hair with electrolysis in small, select areas.

PIGMENTATION

Micro-needling infusion therapy is an advanced aesthetic treatment used to target many skin concerns including pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage and mild acne scarring. DermaFrac™ uses a roller containing 180 super fine needles to stimulate collagen production and cell renewal, helping to plump, firm and smooth the skin. As the roller creates the micro-channels in your skin, the DermaFrac™ system simultaneously enables the infusion of a potent serum to boost the impact of the needling treatment.

The areas that can be treated with DermaFrac™ Micro-Needling are:

•   Ageing skin
•   Fine lines and wrinkles
•   Brown spots and pigmentation
•   Open pores and congested skin
•   Mild Acne scarring

SKIN REJUVENATION

Dermafrac, or collagen induction therapy, employs a small handheld roller that is covered with tiny needles. These needles are rolled painlessly along the skin, creating miniature holes known as microchannels, which are perfect conduits for the infusion of nutrients. The goal of the treatment is to create a controlled wound-healing process similar to what occurs with Fraxel and other fractionated laser treatments but on a much smaller, more superficial scale. Dermafrac treatments rally the body’s healing system, encouraging the production of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid on the surface of the skin. These natural compounds dwindle with advancing age and provide that supple, elastic quality most associated with youth.

MICRODERMABRASION

Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive, pain-free exfoliation skin treatment. The machine buffs the dead epidermal layers of your skin and uses suction which is beneficial to dislodging any comedones and blackhead extractions. This promotes brightening and detoxification.

Pairing this treatment with the micro-skin needling is an intense rejuvenation for your skin, perfect for those of you wanting more from their skin treatments.

INGROWN HAIRS

GentleMAx Pro laser hair removal is the most effective and fastest cure for ingrown hairs i.e. Pseudofolliculitis barbae (PFB), also known as “beard bumps”.  PFB is most common on the face, but may also occur on other parts of the body where hair is shaved, waxed or plucked, especially areas where hair is curly and the skin is sensitive, such as genital area (more properly termed pseudofolliculitis pubis or PFP). If left untreated over time, this can cause scarring in the inflamed area. The laser will not only remove the targeted hair follicle, but any infection or scarring can also be addressed through the laser energy.

MICRO NEEDLING

What conditions does it treat?

DermaFrac™ is safe and effective for many skin types and has been shown to improve conditions such as acne, scars, stretch marks, skin dehydration, superficial fine lines & wrinkles, pigmentation, sun spots and uneven skin tone.

What are the types of treatments available?

Anti-Aging– A “super cocktail” of peptides that has the potential to stimulate collagen and fibroblast production and relax the muscles in a subtle, natural way.

* Hydration – Hyaluronic acid triggers intense hydration. A patented formulation using HylaSponge® technology may result in sustained    hydration of skin.

* Acne – Lactic and salicylic acids have the ability to help control acne outbreaks.

* Lightening – Kojic acid is a natural and effective lightening agent shown to even out pigment.

How does it work?

The precision-controlled DermaFrac™ handpiece uses vacuum to pull the skin into contact with hundreds of micro-needles. The micro-needles create pathways for the infusion of targeted serums by penetrating the epidermis above capillaries and nerve endings, ensuring no bleeding or pain. Designed to improve the overall appearance of your skin, the procedure results in optimal absorption of the serum and stimulates a positive natural response by the body which may increase collagen and fibroblast activity.

Is there downtime?

No. DermaFrac™ allows you to return to your normal activities immediately following the procedure. If you so desire, you may reapply your makeup immediately after the procedure. It is common to experience some pink or slightly red areas, which should fade quickly. The degree of redness you experience will be directly related to the amount of stimulation during the procedure.

Will it hurt?

Patients tell us that DermaFrac™ feels wonderful. The precise engineering of the handpiece prevents any bleeding or pain and instead provides a pleasant client experience with no downtime. DermaFrac™ is an excellent alternative to fractional laser treatments that can be expensive and more complicated.

How many treatments will I need?

DermaFrac™ is typically administered in six treatments, with each treatment scheduled every two weeks followed by maintenance visits every one to two months; however, we will customise a treatment regimen for your unique skin care needs. This may include a combination of LED therapy and/or microdermabrasion to maximise your results.

PHOTO LIGHT THERAPY

LED Light Therapy with the skin kept comfortable with a cool air flow. The LED lights are available in Red (627nm) for anti-inflammatory, Yellow(585nm) for anti-ageing and Blue (415 nm) for anti-bacterial which allow for customisable treatments. This device emits a higher energy than other LED therapies allowing for faster completion of treatment times.
